IBIONO IBOM EXCITED OVER UMO ENO’S PLAN TO FIX IKPANYA, USE IKOT AMAMA ROADS IN FIRST QUARTER
… Our Commitment to PDP is Sacrosanct – Stakeholders declare
As the Akwa Ibom PDP gubernatorial campaign trail berth in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area amidst great pomp, the people and leaders of the area have shown excitment over the passionate proposition to fix two significant roads in Ibiono Ibom by the party’s government candidate, Pastor Umo Eno, as well as other development projects needed by the people.
In Okoita, headquarters of Ibiono Ibom where the campaign rally held Saturday February 11, Eno who was full of appreciation to the people for their show of support and warm reception, pointed that he is not unaware of the needs of the people, announcing plans to commence the construction of Ikpanya road within his first 100 days and abandoned Use Ikot Amama road within the first quarter of his administration upon emergence.
“Thank you for this show of support. You have expressed your love for PDP and I say today, wherever my political father will stop in Ibiono Ibom, we will continue from there. Just as Governor Udom Emmanuel did a road in Ibiono Ibom in his first 100 days, I stand here to say that within our 100 days in office, we will fix the road to Ikpanya. We cannot go lower than the standard which we have come to see. A son cannot perform lower than his father.”
“Use Ikot Amama road had long been in the news and speculated as a completed project, but when I visited the road, I realised that it was not done. I promise you that within our first three months in office, we will put contractor on that road”, he said.
While presenting his multi-sectoral plans to the people, the Nsit Ubium born businessman who said he is an adopted son of Ibiono Ibom, stated that “PDP has a plan for agriculture in Ibiono Ibom; has a plan for security in Ibiono Ibom; has a plan for health in Ibiono Ibom. We know how to do it, we have the experience.”
“This election is not about Udom Emmanuel, this election is not about Umo Eno, this election is about the future of our children and grandchildren. We cannot sit and watch our children leave this state because there is no one to provide real jobs and opportunities for them.”
Governor Udom Emmanuel who spoke through his wife, Dr Martha Emmanuel, thanked the people of Ibiono Ibom for always standing by him and PDP, while assuring them that they will have better days with Pastor Umo at the helm of leadership as next governor of Akwa Ibom State and charging them to remain supportive to the party across all levels in order to put in place a government that will meet their yearnings and aspirations.
On his part, the Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong , who relayed the message of the leaders and people of Ibiono Ibom, expressed great appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel for his strides in the area including the recently awarded contract for the construction of 9.0km Ikot Ada Idem – Ikot Oku Ikono Road, assuring that Ibiono Ibom will not derail in supporting PDP at the general elections and beyond.
“Ibiono Ibom will stand with PDP for some reasons; every development project in Ibiono is done by PDP led government. People have been raised, made and developed in Ibiono by PDP. The political leadership here has mandated me to announce that Ibiono Ibom will remain PDP. This election is not war, we want peace and on the day of election, we will turn out to vote and deliver winning votes to PDP”, said Ememobong.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders of Ibiono Ibom, the Abai of Ibiono, Obong Nsima Umoh, encouraged the people to sit on the fence, but become actively involved in the election of the next set of leaders at the polls.
On his part, the state chairman of PDP, Rt Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, expressing optimism stated, “we are not shaken as long as we have our leaders and stakeholders from Ibiono Ibom intact. The founders of the party in Ibiono Ibom are intact. Ibiono Ibom is the vote basket of PDP and we are confident of victory in this area. We have no issue with any of our candidates including the governorship candidate. We are moving forward, Akwa Ibom is moving forward, PDP is moving forward.”
