MARCH 22 DEFECTORS’ RECEPTION: LEADERS, ELDERS, EXCO MEMBERS FROM OPPOSITION PARTIES MEET A’IBOM PDP
… As party intensifies plan ahead of mass reception rally
As the grand reception of defectors from all opposition parties in Akwa Ibom State to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) draws near, key leaders, stakeholders and Exco Members from opposition parties in the state have met the leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and in the state to concretize plans to move with their teeming supporters back to PDP and to join in supporting the ARISE Agenda of Gov Umo Eno.
In a meeting with the State Chairman of PDP, Rt Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan and other leaders of the party in the state, the opposition party leaders informed PDP leaders of their efforts in mobilizing thousands of members of their parties to move into PDP which they said is the only party that has led Akwa Ibom State excellently.
Rt Hon Akpan who assured the defectors that the umbrella of the party is large enough to accommodate them, expressed delight in their decision to join the ruling party in the state early enough within the early months of the present administration in a bid to supporting Gov Umo Eno to deliver good governance to the people.
He noted that the opposition party leaders who are mostly former office public holders, will be helpful in propagating the ideals of PDP in their localities and among their followers whom they are coming back with into the PDP.
The opposition party leaders who will lead their followers into PDP include former Uruan State Assembly member, Hon Engr. Ime Mbom, former assembly member for Urue Offong/Oruko and immediate past State Secretary of APC, Hon Nkereuwem Enyongekere, immediate past Eket Senatorial District Chairman of APC, Dr Inyang Dan Abia, former Council Chairman of Abak, Dr. Innocent Idiong, among others.
Meanwhile, plans are on top gear to formerly receive all the defectors into PDP on Friday March 22 in Uyo.
