The PDP Governorship Candidate, Pastor Umo Eno has promised that beginning from 2023, Ikono Local Government will enjoy an enviable place as a hub for Agricultural-economic renaissance and Infrastructure, when he is voted into power as Governor of the State. The gubernatorial standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State made this known today while reeling out lofty plans for the people of Ikono Local Government Area whom he has described as strategic partners in the building of Akwa Ibom of our dreams.

Speaking at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, headquarters of Ikono Local Government Area, Saturday November 26, Eno observed that the ‘ntippe Ibibio’ is unique with a lot of investment and development potentials especially in agro sector, relaying his plans to take advantage of the arable land in the area and other available resources.

“Before coming here, we carried out a Needs Assessment to arrive at what we must do for the people of Ikono. Based on that assessment, we will make Ikono the food basket of Akwa Ibom because Ikono has a fertile soil. There is nothing that cannot grow here. One of the agricultural factories we intend to build will be built in Ikono to facilitate the creation of jobs and a food value chain for the people of Akwa Ibom,” he said.

In his speech, Governor Udom Emmanuel
represented by the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Martha Emmanuel assured the people of Ikono of better days and enjoined them to cast their votes for all candidates of the PDP ranging from the Presidential, Governorship, National and State Assembly candidates. He called on the people to guard their PVCs jealously and be prepared to sack the APC at the centre for performing abysmally.
While appreciating the people of Ikono for their immense support to the current administration, His Excellency admonished them to keep supporting PDP in order to enjoy more gains of good governance.

On their part, the people of Ikono who spoke through their various leaders and stakeholders expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel for the development strides recorded in the area under his administration, holding that as a mark of gratitude, they will churn out double votes for PDP candidates to be elected come 2023.

Presenting flag to the state assembly candidate of PDP, Mr Itoro Columba, the state chairman of the party, Rt Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, who also received defectors from the APC back to PDP led by Akparawa Jerry Umoren, stated that it is a known fact that PDP is the party of choice by the people and that victory awaits candidates of the party in 2023.
