As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)/Pastor Umo Eno/Akon Eyakenyi Campaign Organisation, commences local government tour of the governorship campaign, the Governorship Candidate of the PDP Pastor Umo Bassey has promised the people of Uruefong Oruko that his administration will create jobs for the people of the Local Government Area through the setting up of aqua-related and agro-allied industries in the area.

Pastor Umo Eno who spoke in reaction to the outpour of messages of support and assurance of massive votes to PDP candidates by electorates in Urue Offong/Offong Oruko Local Government Area said as contained in the well-laid out ARISE AGENDA which he is campaigning on, his administration will harness the rich arable and aquatic resources in the Local Government to build a sustainable economy that will positively impact on the economic fortunes of Uruefong Oruko People.

The PDP Governorship Candidate who had earlier called on the Paramount Ruler of Uruefong Oruko, HRM Ovong Effiong Matthew Unanowo, JP, AMP, at his palace told the elders, Leaders, stakeholders and entire people of the Local Government Area that his quick areas of priorities in terms of programmes and policies for the people will span Agricultural revolution, Rural Developmen, Infrastructure Maintenance/Expansion, Security management for optimal peace in Uruefong Oruko, and Educational Advancement for the children of Uruefong Oruko.

Pastor Umo Eno said “We came today to tell the people of Urue Offong/Oruko that you are properly situated in the ARISE Agenda. We have come here to say that we know your challenges and we will make sure that by the grace of God your massive votes to ensure our emergence as Governor and your representatives, we address them.”

“I have seen a beach which needs to be developed into a fish market and a tourist attraction. We will renovate that beach to become a proper beach market and we will also provide seafood processing and storage facilities to assist the seafood dealers in Urue Offong/Oruko.”

“The government of Udom Emmanuel has started the revitalisation of Akwa Palm industry which is also situated in Urue Offong/Oruko; when we come in, we will make that place to be a working facility, we will make Urue Offong/Oruko an oil palm belt.”

“Not only will we continue with free and compulsory education, we will provide uniforms and shoes for your children in school. Those uniforms will be sewn in Akwa Ibom, those shoes will be made in Akwa Ibom. We cannot inherit the free and compulsory education policy and not add value to it”, he said.

Elder, Leaders and stakeholders of the area who conveyed the consensus sentiments of the People of Uruefong Oruko at the Rally expressed excitement over the candidature of Umo Eno/Akon Eyakenyi, while assuring that as a mark of gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s development strides in the area, they will mobilise en masse and churn out massive votes to return Eno/Eyakenyi and other candidates of PDP come 2023.

While sharing his plans for the people of Urue Offong/Oruko, Pastor Umo Eno, who earlier consulted the paramount ruler and traditional rulers of the local government said that Urue Offong/Oruko is well positioned in his blueprint, the ARISE Agenda, observed the economic potentials of the area will be well explored and put to use for the development of communities and people of the area.

Those who spoke including the former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Amb. Etim Okpoyo, Member representing the Uruefong Oruko State Constituency, Hon. Asuquo Archibong, Commissioner for Transport, Uno Uno, Charles Emene, Arit Ambit amongst others said their interface with electorate across all the units will lead to a massive success for the PDP in the Local Government Area.

Also speaking, the deputy governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, observed that Governor Udom Emmanuel will be handing over leadership to Pastor Umo Eno whom he said is “competent in knowledge, competent in compassion and competent in industry”, while advising that “the only way to enjoy more of what is being currently enjoyed in the state, the peace, the development, is to vote Umo Eno.”

Governor Udom Emmanuel who spoke through the first lady, Dr. Martha Emmanuel, was thankful to God for Umo Eno’s victory in court which she said was futile attempt at distracting a man who is accepted by teeming Akwa Ibomites to take over as Governor, even as encouraged the people of Urue Offong/Oruko to keep supporting PDP in order to enjoy more gains of good governance from the presidential election to national and state assembly elections.

“God has silenced all the false accusers by exonerating our incoming governor in court. Yesterday, they mocked him and today they are being mocked. God has turned things around.”

“They will come to deceive you again, don’t listen to them. They climbed the ladder of PDP to the top and they wanted to take away the ladder, but they failed. Don’t give the chance. We will have a governor that will not be a beer palour governor. In Umo Eno, we will have a governor with competence and good character that will translate into development for the people. When they come to decieve you, ask them for proof of good antecedent, ask them for proof of character.”

On his part, the state chairman of PDP, Rt. Hon. Elder Aniekan Akpan said as Party that has enjoyed massive goodwill and preference from the people of Uruefong Oruko, the PDP will continue to do everything to remain as the most preferred platform through which credible leaders and representatives emerge, for the overall benefits of Uruefong Oruko People.

“Today, we came here to Uruefong Oruko with all amount of confidence because this Local Government has always been a stronghold of the PDP and 2023 will not be different. As an organized party the PDP goes to everywhere with the irreversible conviction that the emergence of Pastor Umo Eno as the party’s standard bearer is divine and so the various verdicts by the courts since his emergence goes to corroborate this fact.”

Highlight of the event was the presentation of the Candidates of the PDP for the Eket Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Ekong Sampson, Candidate for the House of Representatives for Oron Federal Constituency Mr Martins Esin, and the Candidate for the Uruefong Oruko State Constituency Hon. Precious Selong to the people as the ones to be voted into the different offices during the 2023 general elections.
